Myths About Bras That Most People Do Not Know, Including YOU!!

It is a general knowledge among women that bras are a burden. They can prove to be very painful when worn for long stretches of time. Not only that, but they have also been known to get on the nerves so much that the highlight of many women’s days is getting to remove their bras. It feels incredibly good to let the boobs out of confinement.

There are a lot of untrue stories that are being spread on the internet about bras. Many of them could put a woman off bras for life, and that might not be such a bad thing to happen. In this article, we would be dispelling the myths and telling you what is true and what is a myth. So read on to know the truth for yourself.

1. BRAS PREVENT SAGGY BOOBS

Many women have heard this at least one time in their lives. Perhaps your mother or your friend told you that if you did not wear any bras, your perky breasts would soon sag. This alone is enough to have someone wearing a bra for the entire day. No one wants to have saggy boobs. Well, you will be glad to know that it is a myth. Not wearing a bra would not cause your boobs to sag just as wearing a bra would not stop them from sagging. There are other means of preventing saggy boobs and wearing a bra is not one of them.

2. INCREASED RISK OF BREAST CANCER

Cancer of any kind can be a scary prospect to face and although there aren’t many sure causes of cancer, anything even rumored to be a cause for cancer is avoided. Recently, there has been a myth circulating about the underwire Bra and its contribution to breast cancer. This was believed because of the rise in breast cancer cases especially when the underwire Bra became a hit with women. Scientifically, it has not been proven, and as such, it still is a myth.

3. WOMEN SHOULD SLEEP WITH THEIR BRA ON

Apart from this advice being potentially uncomfortable, it is also wrong and sounds very silly. Wearing the bra to bed would make for a very uncomfortable night. It is not advisable for women to wear their bras to bed. Prolonged adherence to this myth could cause blisters and skin irritations.

4. STRETCH MARKS ARE CAUSED BY NOT WEARING A BRA.

Stretch marks on the breasts are almost a normal occurrence. Most women have it, and despite the myth on the ground, it is not caused by not wearing a bra. A stretch mark is caused by the uneven expansion of skin and therefore has nothing to do with wearing a bra or not. Stretch marks and saggy breasts have nothing to do with the wearing of a bra.

5. BRA SIZES ARE THE SAME

It can be something of a trial to find that one Bra that perfectly suits your breasts in size and comfort. Finding the perfect size of Bra is such a problem for women that sometimes we go with a bra that is either one size too small or one size too large. What women have not realized is that Bra sizes are not fixed. They vary according to brand and so it is important that you check the size when you want to get a bra from a different brand to avoid ending up with a bigger or smaller Bra.

6. BRAS CAN BE WASHED IN THE MACHINE

You can wash your bras in the machine, but they really should not be washed in the machine. Bras for all their small size and concealment when worn are ridiculously expensive, and as such, one would not enjoy replacing them frequently. Washing them in the machine could make them spoil faster especially when the material used to make it is very delicate. Because of this, it is advised that women hand wash their bras.

7. THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH WEARING THE SAME BRA FOR SEVERAL DAYS.

You would be surprised at how many women actually believe in this especially when it comes to the favorite Bra. They can wear them for weeks before washing. Well, you cannot wear one Bra for several consecutive days, and this is because sweat and other bodily fluids would get it dirty and that can cause you irritation especially in the warmer months. You are advised to wash your bras as frequently as you do your panties.
