Yoga has proved to be a very effective means of relaxation and meditation, and many people have come to embrace it totally as a means of taking their minds off their problems. However, somewhere in Australia, a yoga instructor has developed a new style of teaching yoga that gives a new definition to relaxation. This 30-year-old yoga instructor from Australia is teaching yoga naked. The unique yoga classes are only for the fairer sex, and it was initiated in a bid to help women appreciate and accept their bodies with love no matter what shape and size it comes in.
The Yoga Instructor named Rosie Rees talked about what she hoped to achieve from teaching a nude yoga class. She said that she hopes that her nude yoga classes would help women get in touch with their sexuality and be able to have an improved sex life and confidence in themselves.
She also went ahead to say that many of her yoga students were seeing improvements in their lives most notably in their sleep cycles. Her students said that they have been sleeping a lot better since they started taking Rees’s nude yoga classes. As she told Daily Mail UK, “It’s not about doing the downward dog naked… it’s about self-acceptance, stepping out of the comfort zone and cultivating courage. I’d say it’s a catalyst. Nude yoga is such a courageous thing to do, but when these women leave my classes, they feel comfortable in their own skin,”
It’s not easy to feel good and confident in yourself, and your body as a woman and this is because there are a lot of expectations and definitions of beauty given by the society that makes it hard for them to feel beautiful in themselves. Most women measure their beauty by the generally accepted standards put out there, and it makes them constantly judgemental of themselves. Rees tells Daily Mail UK about the impact of her nude yoga classes on women’s confidence and body image, “Women are very hard on themselves, but when they walk into this beautiful space, they learn how to feels to like and accept their bodies. Particularly mothers who have children – their bodies change so much. It’s amazing for them to have gratitude for their body by the end of the class.”
The nude yoga classes are mostly made up of younger women although the class is for women of all ages. However, Rees says that she has had older people sign in for her unique yoga classes. These women want to change things up in their lives, try something radical and even learn to better appreciate their bodies. Most of the women who attend her nude yoga classes are usually there because they want to finally learn to appreciate their bodies.
Rees has a tour, and she plans to take her nude yoga classes around the world next year starting from February. The classes last an average of four hours per session and comprise of trying out several yoga poses in a candlelit room while naked. As unconventional as it is, a lot of women are embracing the nude yoga classes and much more would.
